This is known as "keyboard shortcuts" or "command alias", and can be created or changed in two different ways. If Express tools are installed, a Command Alias Editor can be found under the Tools section. (or type ALIASEDIT on the command line). This will enable the command aliases to be created or changed in a fairly simple way, and they will be available for immediate use.

The command alias can also be created or changed in the acad.pgp file. This file can be found in the AutoCAD Support folder, in a path similar to this one:
C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name"\Application Data\Autodesk\"AutoCAD Version"\R16.2\enu\Support

If this folder cannot be found, it is probably because "Don't show hidden files and folders" is ticked under ToolsFolder AlternativesDisplay Options in Windows Explorer.

At the end of the acad.pgp file, new command aliases can be added to the "User Defined" section. New shortcuts added here will override previously defined shortcuts.

Placing a hyphen prefix to the command will activate the command line version, and not the dialogue box version of that command.

The following are examples of keyboard definitions, as they appear in the acad.pgp file:

LN,     *LINETYPE (dialogue box version of the command)
LC,     *-LINETYPE (command line version of the command)
LS,     *LTSCALE
ME,    *MEASURE
MI,     *MIRROR

After the shortcuts have been added and the acad.pgp file saved, type REINIT on the command line to make the shortcuts available for immediate use.
