Open the "Custom User Interface" dialogue window by typing CUI on the command line, or go to ToolsCustomiseInterface.

  • Select "Keyboard Shortcuts" under the "Customizations in All CUI Files" section at the top left hand corner of the dialogue window.
  • In the "Shortcuts" section at the top right hand corner of the dialogue window, scroll down until the F1 key is found under “Keys”. Highlight that line.
  • Go to the "Information" section at the bottom right hand corner of the dialogue window. On the "Name" line, type Cancel, then on the "macro" line replace the text there (if there is any text) with ^C .

Click OK to apply the changes and exit the "Customize User Interface" dialogue window.

The "Custom User Interface" (CUI) was introduced to AutoCad Release 2006.

When I open the dialog box the F1 key does not appear? (Please take your question to cadtutor.net/forum - Tiger 081014)

I am on 2008 and, like the comment above, the F1 key is not an option to chnage. The "Source" column also reads 'ADT' instead of 'ACAD' (located next to the "Keys" and "Type" columns). I will soon take my keyboard out to the shooting range and target the F1 key as a bullseye if I can't resolve this soon. Thanks. (Please take your question to cadtutor.net/forum - Tiger 081017)
