Hey guys.
I have a map that I need to update, the problem is that one of the geologist made that map and when he left he took those files with him, so I was able to find the image I need for making the new map, the problem is that the picture is in a PDF file and I tried to open it with ACAD but I couldn't.
So I copied it and pasted it into Corel Draw and I was able to make a tif file but it completely lost the good quality and resolution. I wonder if there's a way to extract the picture without losing the resolution and quality.

A PDF is just a fancy plot file, most times a conversion will result in a loss of precision.
Keeping that in mind, here are some ways to convert a PDF to a DXF or DWG file.

Thanks for replying.
I don't think this may work because what I want to extract is an image, anyway I'll give it a try.
if someone knows another way, please let me know.

Download the 30 day of Adobe Illustrator. I think this will do what you want. It can open vector PDF files and export back to AutoCAD. As RK said you will have to rescale once back into AutoCAD but not a big deal IMHO. I hope this helps.

In that case, the quality of the image you get out of the PDF is limited to what the PDF contains.
Make sure you are at 100% (or even larger) zoom before copying to the clipboard in Acrobat reader.... (zoom out to the highest level possible)

Is it a vector PDF or a raster PDF? If raster then yes, RK is correct. You are pretty much stuck with what you have. :(

It is raster PDF.

I got it, that's the way I'm doing it. I thought there might be another way. In the end I zoomed in and I was able to extract the part I was looking for, it lost a lot of quality but I guess it's OK.
Thanks.

I guess I said that wrong. You would zoom IN as far as you can go.
I can set the zoom level to 1600% and then copy and I get pretty good quality. Any higher zoom and I get an "out of memory" error when attempting to copy to the clipboard.

Corel Draw can import PDF files and export in DWG format. I walked this way with vector images but with a raster image -you are out of luck
