I find myself switching my ORTHO and OSNAP buttons on and off with alarming regularity. Moving the mouse feels like a waste of time when I have a spare hand, so how do I asign shortcut keys to these commands?

There should be default shortcuts already assigned to those through AutoCAD:
ORTHO shortcut key is F8
OSNAP shortcut key is F3

Doesn't do anything for me. Could be just my old version though.

Doesn't do anything for me. Could be just my old version though. Its been like that since at least version 2.6 so I don't think that is your problem. I think they are part of the ACAD.MNU so have you got that menu menu loaded?

I don't think so. I looked through both the list of ACAD toolbars and couldn't find any named MNU. What did I miss?

I think I may have confused myself about where they are defined. I've just looked at an old menu definition file (.MNU) and can't find it. Newer releases use CUI rather than MNU. I'm not sure what 2000 uses.
If you type MENULOAD you will get a list of what menus are already loaded. Is ACAD in there?

if that is the case, if you type in OPTIONS go to PROFILES and see which one is current. There should be a regular AutCAD profile.
