Ok. I got a handme down 15" LCD monitor that can do 1024x768.

I work on a single 22" monitor running at 1600x1200. Screen space is like gold to me when I'm working in CAD.

So I hooked up the second monitor and I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I want to be able to put (dock) certain things on the little monitor. Like properties boxes, or text boxes, or certain menus, etc, while keeping the workspace on the big old monitor.

I understand "clone" (why would anyone use that?), "horizontal span", "vertical span", but not "dual view".

H span is odd for me. The monitor that should be to the left of the main monitor is actually to the right of it. My cursor slides off the right side of the main monitor and shows up on the left side of the monitor to the left of the main one. Opening emails and the web works out bad. Sentences run off the right side of the main screen and finish on the left screen. Web pages are broken, etc.

Dual view has everything on the main monitor, and a blank portion of the desktop on the left monitor. I can get the cursor on the left monitor, but can't seem to put anything else there.

So far I can't seem to figure out how to take advantage of the second monitor.

Anyone know anything about this stuff?

or you can switch the monitor cables on your vid card. also, try using a 3rd party software, such as UltraMON (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/) - this is a nice utility i used for years until i went back to a single widescreen.

OK. There was more to it than just right clicking on the desktop and choosing properties. The NView manager seems to have done the trick
