I work at a geotech firm and one of the engineers here wants to be able to do quick sections thru rockery walls. We get plans from other companies and he wants to be able to draw a line thru the walls and have the computer generate a section thru that wall to show slopes and all that other stuff. All I have now is AutoCAD 2006... so what program/s would I need to accomplish this task? Or is it even possible? (He said they could do it at his last place of work)

Im thinking that LDD would be the program to go for... If so, how much is it? Can it just install right over AutoCAD 06?

Thanks for any incite. :D

Can be done in AutoCad, you just have to make the walls 3d

it is possible to do in Civil 3D, but the plan must be in 3D; or I use Holebase at my work (which is also a geotech company)

all the above suggestions (LDD and CIVIL 3D) are very costly for what you want...there are several third party software developing companies that write add-on software for autocad, several of them can do things much better and much cheaper and run within the autocad environment...

try this http://www.bhsllc.us/bhssm1.html

if you need some really basic sections to start from there is a lisp routine follow this link http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9940
this should get you basic sections from what your after.
