I have an HP500ps plotter who we like to call Darth. Darth is generally a very good plotter but he does sometimes have a tendency to stop plotting plans halfway through for no apparent reason.

There is always paper left on his roll, his ink cartridges are full, and nobody has pressed his cancel button. Then if you plot the same plan again..... it plots no problem.

Has anybody else had similar problems? It doesn't happen often enough to cause me great concern, but I am curious.

Had similar problems with an HP 650 once. We got rid of it after a while. No rhyme or reason to it :? . Why Darth?? We used to call one of the novel servers Monica once   . It would go down every now and then

It's called Darth because of the noise he makes when you first turn him on in the morning. It reminds me of Darth Vader breating & when we first got him he looked pretty scarey  compared to the little plotter we had before.

I guess I'll just have to put up with his mood swings!

Sounds like me when it comes to DIY projects around the house. My wife can vouch for that.

We experimented once a similar problem with our HP488CA. Posibble Darth need more memory? Add a memory card or select Process Document: in computer.

Thanks Fuccaro, I will look into getting a new memory card for Darth. It is nearly his birthday after all.

Glad you got a laugh out of it. I was wondering if anyone outside of the USA would get it after I posted it ;) Was very "PC" of me but was simply in jest :)
