View Full Version : Repeating a text table through a few tabs

I've got 3 tabs in a drawing and have a table that need to go in each table.
The information on each tab is the same and its a pain having to change it in each one when there is a change.
How can I mirror or link the text from one tab to another?

INVENTOR and Mechanical Desktop does all that automatically for you !

I have done this in the past by drawing the table in Paperspace and using the normal Windows Copy or Copy with basepoint command, (which are available from right clicking the mouse), to copy to the other tabs.

Provided you don't select another command in between pasting you will not need to reselect the items to be copied.

You could also create a block containing the table, (again in paperspace)and copy the block to the other tabs - the advantage being that if you need to update the table you only need to edit the table and redefine the block once to change all the tables.

I suspect that someone may have a more elegant way of doing it but these are the methods I have used in the past. As usual in autocad there are several ways of achieving the same thing and its not always easiest to decide which way is the best.

We are talking about text? You could place the text in a Word document and insert it in the drawing as OLE. Change the text in the document and the DWG will be updated automaticaly.

am I missing something here ?
3 tabs with the same information on each tab ?... copying and pasting....

why isn't the table in modelspace and just mview the table through each tab ?
