Hi,

I'm using AutoCAD 2002 through ADT 3.3.
I work with 3 no. lines of toolbars to the left of the drawing area. When I open the program, once the Environment has fully loaded, the left side always reverts to 2 no. lines of toolbars. The other toolbars being squeezed out of the bottom (sounds gross, I know!) of the remaining 2 no. lines.
Can anyone tell me, is there a System Variable that allows more than 2 no. lines of toolbars to happily co-exist?

Thanks, hxn.

Use OPTIONS command to adjust/tweak menu files

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the reply, but could you expand on this. I'm a drawer, not a puter expert, so this sort of thing doesn't come natural. I know my way around AutoCAD, but only from a draftsmans chair.

Cheers, hxn.

Ok type OPTIONS then look through the tabs for all the settings. Once you are happy with settings then go back to the drawing area.

Setup any menus u wish. Go back to the OPTIONS command and EXPORT your current PROFILE. Save this somewhere and make a back up.

Now if the menus disappear just use OPTIONS then profiles whithin to re apply the profile.

I use this in my classroom so all kids use the same menus. When they kill a menu or toolbar by mistake I can re-apply it.

Yes Nick, this works at keeping 3 no. columns of toolbars, but 1 no. toolbar (osnaps) in this 3rd column keeps reverting to the 1st column (and hence, near enough, off the screen) even though there is plenty of room for it in the 3rd column.
I'm told by a coleague that this is a quirk of R2002 and that it is resolved in R2004. Is this so, or could it be my setup?

Regards, hxn.

Dunno. Maybe a flyout is cozzing problems. Or why don't u edit the toolbar down a bit, by reducing the number of buttons. I'm sure you don't use ALL the buttons regularly.

Hi Nick,
I've removed one toolbar from my screen LH side, but now it has reverted to 2 no. columns again!
I'm sure it's my settings. However, I'm installing 2004 soon, so, a new start. Until then, I'll live with re-positioning my toolbars when I boot Acad, it's no great hassle. Thanks for your help.

I believe that there is a freeware app. called lock toolbars. Do a search on this and see what you find.
