guy,
hello to all of you! And i'm wishing that all of you are in good health and enjoying life....
well my question is.... how can i tell how good i am in autocad?
I am a fresh graduate of BS electrical engineering.... i really never use autocad in job.... i only use autocad as my pass time and to some of my school projects.
most probably this one would be my first job.... as design engineer..... and will use autocad in designing... mostly of motors. i took an exam in autocad on that company and thanks god i passed.... the exam was so simple just the basic.... lines.... polylines... rectangle with hatch.... and nothing in 3D.
thanks!

When you finish a project, burn it on a personal CD (don’t forget to remove the confidential information!). In time you will have a personal archive of your works. Keep it up to date. Find an attractive "package", something like a slide show with menus and navigation buttons to show your works. If you will search a new job or whenever you will be asked about your activity, just send a copy of that CD.
Be active in this Forum (or/and in others), show us your best works. CADTutor, can you tell us the number of visitors during the past month?

Stick some models/renderings in the gallery forum.
Get into inventor it's the next thing and more and more adverts
are asking for it.
Inventor is ideal for motor design and you can animate the parts
assembling and revolving.
Good Luck

The only way youll truely know is when you get out there and work in the industry for a long time.If you only ever work for one company then you will only be able to measure how you good you in comparison to the employers at your work.

To measure your skill take one of the tests. Autodesk has plenty on their website and you can become a certified expert.
Also browse the web and compare your work.
Inventor users can enter a monthly World Cup. Of course the objects can be replicated in acad as well. It's a timed task.

Thank god Autocad isn't a sport.
However, I think it is experience that will make us Cad users good.
I have been using Autocad for 5 years now, and I'm still learning like every other member here. Even some of the simplest of things.
a thank u

the more experienced you are, the more difficult the simplest of things become :P

The more u learn in Cad , the more there is to learn. So many diff way to get the same result, (As in life) some better ways than others.
BUT what counts is the finished result . u getting there (job well done etc.)
It dont mater how good u are, its taking part that counts, thats why were all ere..... :D

when your out meeting clients, drinking champagne all day, driving a £100,000+ aston martin, you only work 2-3 days a week max and everyone else is doing your work even though you can ask much $$$ as you want for a drawing :P
