View Full Version : Saving issues...

So I have AutoCAD 2002, and 2 co-workers of mine that insist on doing their own drawings have AutoCADLT98.

They are constantly calling me about issues and I really wish they'd just let me do all the drafting, but they are stubborn and for some reason they insist on doing their drawings on their own...

I established a uniform title block that the owner of our comapny wishes to use on every drawing, no matter who is drafting the project.

So i noticed i can save my files as LT version files, so that the LT guys can open them and use them..

However, when i go to save them as LT files, AutoCAD 2002 doesnt respond and my comp freezes. It's a wonderful process, and I've tried to save certian files over and over as LT format, but like always my AutoCAD fails to go any further and i have to start all over...

my question is... how in the hell can i save a drawing in 2002 as a LT file without my AutoCAD getting pissed and refusing to cooperate... I've tried smooth talking, soft clicking of the mouse not to startle the AutoCAd, i treat AutoCAD as a wild horse and I am the patient horse whisperer.... and i'm about to start throwing rocks at this effing horse if it doesnt cooperate!!

any help is appreciated.

does it lock if you save it as DXF rather than DWG? Or you could get AutoDesk tru view converter and leave them to do the conversion themselves.

EDIT: i don't know about saving to LT tho.... give it a shot anyways. you can save back as far as 14 without using AutoCAD.

FYI, there's no such thing as "LT format". AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT read the same files as long as the versions are the same or compatible. You may have been having trouble saving as R14 (LT 98), but it's not related to LT.
