 I'm not sure if I understand the question. Are you asking how to access the Layer Manager? Type LA at the command line, or go to the "Format" pull down menu and select Layer... to open the Layer Manager dialog. From there you can control the visibility of your layers. There is also a Layers toolbar.

There's a Layer Manager in cad 04 that you can access only the layers that you want to work with and freeze all other layers that's not needed.example is you're working in a bunch of drawings with dimension, text and object that's on top of it's other. When you want to work and plot it you freeze other dimension and text. Then if you want to work and plot object with another text and dimension in it,you can access layer manager to freeze it that you don't want to be plotted.

well maybe you're talking about Layer Property Filters. type LAYER to bring up the layer properties manager. then click the icon the with lightning bolt on it to manage Layer Properties Filters. this is what i assume you're looking for. :)
