My avatar was modeled in Rhino and is an example of the type of modeling at which Rhino excels and autocad is somewhat deficient. The images were rendered in Max with VRAY. See larger images below:

looks good
i've always wondered, how long would a render like that take to complete

very cool SEANT
are the black lines textured or modeled?

It would be difficult for me to put a number on the timeframe for this project. The evolution of the idea, several concept models, then to these renders spanned several years of part time attention. If I had to guess, the modeling and rendering of just this build was probably +100 hours. I'm not very fast.
The stripes (green actually) are a 3D procedural texture. UV mapping the superstructure would no doubt have been a pain in the ass.

Here's another project in which Rhino played a critcal role.
Although there was little need for any of Rhino’s freeform modeling capabilities, the boolean solids proved quite capable for mechanical design evaluation.
Models rendered with Vray.
Engine specs:
2 liter, 4 cylinder
16 Valves - Opposite Paired
Mirrored Manifold
Air/Oil Cooled
Semi-Dry Sump
863
862
865
864

Thanks.
It's nice to see some kind of action here in the Rhino forum. With the conspicuous absence of Antisthenes, it been kinda lonely.
