It seems that all of the upgrades the last couple of years have been for 2D, not 3D enhancements. Has any of the 3D solid commands and features been improved since ACAD 2000?

I think they should have improved the solids tool set. Something like being able to make one shape blend into another, like a square-to-round extrusion. An object tree so that you can un-union solids, or copy a feature that you added to the solid. A helix command that you can extrude polygons without it rotating about it's axis.

Should ACAD 2005 be a patch, or service-pack instead of a "NEW RELEASE? What would the rest of you want added to ACAD to warrant a "NEW RELEASE" label?

It has changed since 2k, 2004 is different there are a lot of behind the scenes changes and 3D stuff.

But INVENTOR is now the 3D modelling package. Although MECH DESKTOP is very good for 3D as well.
