convert imperil to metric

I have a drawing to do which is in feet / inches, and I know that I could draw it up in that format and than convert it to metric on autocad ,but I was thinking is there a way to type the sizes in imperil and auto cad converts it to metric as I draw up.

why not input in imperial and show alternate units in the dimensions
