I get some problems.
Whats about?
Well, I downloaded some "free" textures for 3d max (in .jpeg format) they were downloaded from 3dcaffe.com
but when I try to assign them to objects in 3d max I get information "Invalid image file header" so what it is about?
Also when I import .dwg file (or .3DS whatever) in 3d max the materials can not be assigned also (materials from 3d max
original library!) so what should I have to do to fix that?
Tanx again
If you can find some free termin I would be very pleased if you would answer to me about my problems

hi There
dabar,
can you use any other jpgs to work with?
there are several different variations of jpg formats.
can you try to save the jpg files into another format - like tga or bmp? using FotoChop or some other software? and then see if the jpg files are usable?
if none of This works and if you need some additional "free" Textures, then check This out:
The FreeList 2d Maps Materials Textures:

The FreeList 3d Models Meshes Objects:
http://www.viz2000.com/htma/freelist-objs.html
***
i just added some more Links to This Lists today
****
please let me know what happens and how or if the jpgs are now working
Thanks

changing .jpeg format to some other(.bmp for example) makes
that now my textures can be applied, it was so easy but I've never been thinking about that on that way
I don know what it was about, but all .jpegs were damaged, when they are converted to .bmp
they are ok
also I had a problem with maping .dwg and .3ds files imoprted from AutoCAD
so if anyone has the same problem I suggest to visit these ones:
http://design6.ap.buffalo.edu/~aguidera/CAD_to_3ds_01.html
http://design6.ap.buffalo.edu/~aguidera/CAD_to_3DS_02.html
these lessons are very short, but extremly usefull
but now I have new problem, .3ds file imported from AutoCAD, sometimes have damaged objects
for example some parts of objects are missing, etc....
also same drawing imported in .dwg has no damages
So anyway whats the differnces beetween imported .3ds and .dwg file into MAX?
.dwg is corectly, too?
;)

That;s a very nice post fransescogrippi... ;D
Dabar: I don't know what the exact difference is, but I noticed that when you place a light in AutoCAD and just import the *.dwg in Max or VIZ, the light doesn't show up, however, when I first export to *.3ds and than import it will show up...
