I have recently reinstalled my computer with XP Pro. I saved out my profile from Autocad 2002. When I import the porfile it works fine but it will not "set as current" i.e. when I reboot autocad it reverts back to the default profile :x

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Dan

You can start AutoCAD up with any saved profile by adding the /p option to the target of the shortcut.

1. Create a new shortcut to acad.exe or, better still, copy an existing shortcut.

2. Right-click the shortcut and select "Properties".

3. add "/p profileName" at the end of the target string. Make sure you put a space either side of the "/p".

e.g. the target string on my shortcut looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2004\acad.exe" /p Vanilla

4. save changes and use the new shortcut to start AutoCAD, your chosen profile will be used at startup.

I Now get a message at startup saying "cannot find specified drawing file. Please verify that it exists" Is there anyway of checking or editting the arg file to remove the problem.

BTW - I can load the profile up after the program has started without any error message?

Thanks

Do you also have a template file specified in your target string?

The correct syntax for your target string should be:

"path to acad.exe in quotes" /t "path to template file in quotes" /p profileName

Make sure all your quotes and spaces are in the right place.

I presume you have explored the OPTIONS command and then the Profiles section, this should help with other settings, files and network locations etc
