think this was asked before, but im trying to copy a set of layers from one dwg to another. im using 2007 full i go into the design ctr and copy the laters but it wont let me paste them into another drawing! what am i doing wrong? ta

not sure whats going wrong but,,, if i want layers from another drawing i simply insert that drawing into the one i want the layers on explode the block it creates then delete it again, this leaves the layer information in your new drawing,.

From the design center you should be able to just drag and drop what you want into the drawing.

In Design Center, under the folders tab, find the source drawing with the layers you want. Expand and click on Layers. The right pane should show the layers in the drawing. Highlight the layers you want, drag and drop onto the drawing you want them inserted.

also, you can read up on Exporting/Importing layers and layer states using the Layer States Manager in the Layer Properties dialog box. it saves the default location for very quick access.
