Okay,
I've put this question out there and have received some good advice but I'm still stuck. I'll try again.
I received a floor plan in eps format. I want to somehow get the file into AutoCAD 2002 and edit it. Inserting it as raster image is just an image and cannot edit lines, etc.
How can I convert this file into a format that works for me? Some info that has come my way includes:
"convert to vector format"
"convert eps to dxf"
But how do I actually do that? I've tried to download gsview to no avail.
Help please, Robin

I don't think that you'll be able to find any "magic" solution to do what you want. Yes, raster to vector programs are out there that you can try, but I can't really recommend any because they ultimately all put out less than favorable results. Most people find it better to trace over the image than to clean up a converted image.
To reiterate on what others have said in the past, there is probably a reason why you have received .eps files instead of a format like dwg or dxf that you can edit in Autocad. If you have a legitimate need to modify a drawing from someone else or use it as a base plan for one of your drawings, then ask them for a dwg or dxf. Most people don't appreciate their work being easily stolen, so this is one simple (but largely effective) way of deterring it from happening.

Thank you. I will ask for a dwf or dxf file. If available, it should solve the problem.
Great advice.

I got an EPS file and converted it to dxf with GSview. Did you try it?

I tried to download free version of gsview and had difficulties. Who did you download it from? Any other tips would be appreciated. I'm just about ready to give up!

I don't remember where I got it from. It is an older free 4.5 version. If you want, I'll try to convert it with what I have. Post the file here or email it to me.

How can I attach the file to a private message? It would be great if you could try to convert it.
