Hi

Im looking to print off a 2D drawing for use in a presentation. However, in another AutoCAD .dwg file I have drawn the object in 3D.

Is there any way I can import the 3D object (ie something similar to xref-ing it in) so that the 3D object will be viewed and printed on an area of the drawing? As normal xref-ing just inserts the object in plan mode.

Hope I've explained that properly!

Were layouts used in either drawing?

yeah you can use layout windows in differnt areas of your model and link them to the same layout page. I'm not sure exactly how you do it, but i've definitely managed it before. have a look in the help file

Setup the layout as normal with all the 2D views then add a new vieport and add the Isometric/Perspective view of the 3D model.

You would have to import the 3D model in to the 2D file before doing the layout.

You could RENDER the 3D model and attach the image in of it as well.
