hi all,
i set my scale in autocad ,i want to know is it must to set limits too or not, after setting my scale when i start to draw a new file for example i am drawing a room walls 8000mm*6000mm as i draw 8000mm line it looks like line is too big so i used zoom extend to c complete line in this situation ucs icon comes in the center of window and sticking on the edge of line.
2-should i change every time scale of autocad or only once because when i use second time autocad i check units there units second changed. y setting changed and may i set once and donot should change till i not change
best wishes for all forum memers and guests

Always draw full scale (size) in model space. Then switch to paper space (Layouts), open however many viewports you need, then scale each viewport as required. Example: a house shown in a viewport might be scaled at 1/8" or 1/4"=1'. A detail of a joist connection might be scaled at 3/4"=1'.

By doing it this way you never have to change the scale of what resides over in model space. The "scale" will always be "full size."

I won't be changing scale at all. Just draw it and after if you go to paper space setup scale for printing, unless you got company template but it is usually set to scale( insert template with scale required to proper view of drawing)
Remember if you change dwg scale you need to change dimscale text etc...

hi friend,
i am understanding that scale setting is for paper printing and for this setting is only at the time of printing.if i want to use autocad in meters or in feet or in cm or mm may i use normally?
no need for unit setting? unit setting is =scale setting or these r two diffrent thing?by the way my prob is not about printing i want to use autocad in mm because after that i will import this file in 3dsmax.

You can set in untiles-no name for unit
One unit will be one unit till you attach measuring system: imperial or metric then AC will calculate to proper reading. If you set scale to 1:2 and draw line 1 inch long and dimension it( without changing dimscale) tell me what you get?
