Alright all you max gurus. Is there a way to have something like object snaps in max?

As far as I know ACAD is very precies, with coordinates and snapping, VIZ/MAX is not that precise...

i find VIZ/MAX is not that bad, i usually use the vertex snap only, it works a charm...
and then move them by punching in actual dimensions

what i notice is that in max4 you cant use axis filters, really annoying..

Well that is what I was looking for. Thanks Jari.

If I need precision, I use AutoCAD to construct my models. Than I import them in 3DS. It’s true sometime it is easier to make the model directly in 3DS, when you can bend-twist an initial box or something like. But usually those models don’t need so much precision; they are shaped “by eye”. It’s nice to work with well designed models, you can be shore that everything will match perfectly.
Probable, if somebody is advanced in the 3DS, she/he has other opinion. I work better with AutoCAD, so is my preferred modeling tool, even if sometime AutoLisp is needed to perfect the job.
