...and to add to that...

DWF is not "just for the Internet"... You can publish drawings to DWF, and send it to clients, etc. The files are smaller, are more intelligent, etc. than PDF. You can also publish drawings to DWF and another person can mark them up using (the now FREE) Design Review application - and then the markup can be loaded back into AutoCAD.

DXF is not what it once was. Not all drawing entities are contained in the DXF specs - so it is NOT a "global drawing exchange format" any more.

I was checking an IV file in DWF and I was surprised at the rendering quality and how you can rotate and zoom etc.

A good add on.

How? :?

We have a KIP scanner here that will scan a hard copy to a DWF. I can view/markup the DWF file with Design Review but I don't find where I can get the file into DWG format?

Seek and ye shall find. Read...do...succeed.

Another option. Download free DWF-to-DWG converter like this one.
