setting default folder

hi ladies and gents.

when AutoCAD2000 is installed the default folder is ACAD2000, and strangely enough my works are not saved there, i remember you can change the default folder to a different one, but how? is it the same as R14? cos i dont know how to do it, tried to do it in the preference dialogue, but i dont think i got it right?
or am i speaking out of my ass again?
help? anyone?

Strangely enough, the default save folder isn't determined by AutoCAD at all. It's determined by the shortcut you use to start AutoCAD.

You can set any folder you like to be the default save folder by setting the path to that folder in the "Start in" box on the Shortcut tab of the shortcut properties dialogue box. This is quite nice because it means you can have different shortcuts for different projects so that you always know you're saving to the right folder. It also saves lots of time.

When AutoCAD is first installed, the shortcut always points to the AutoCAD program folder :roll:

Change it now for an easier life!

Thers is also AUTOSAVE and other save settings available if you
type the command OPTIONS and click on the OPEN/SAVE tab.
