Who saved the drawing last?

You can get some info from File > Drawing Properties. Also Fields might be of some help.

I think the command "WHOHAS" helps you

For history type 'list' and select everything, now you can see all the commands use to make the drawing.

Drawing Properties is an enhancement of the old Status & Time commands which are still active in the later versions of AutoCAD.

Lazer, List will just give you a, erm, list of all of the visible (ie unfrozen) entities in the current space... & depending on the size of the drawing this can be a lot of data.

Try inserting mtext. In the mtext editor you can insert various fields, one of which is "last saved by". You can also add a date and time when a drawing was last saved. If you then wblock this out, you can add this text as a block and it will give you the information on whichever drawing it is inserted into.

I am posting this comment from my home PC that only has ACAD2000. When I get to work I willl do a proper 2007 tutorial. I wish there was somewhere on here I could post the block I created for all to use.

Please note though, this only works on network systems that require a user log on name.

I use this block in all my drawings. Some times, several people make changes to a drawing during its life. If I have a query on a chnage made to a drawing I have started, I now know who to speak to.

Of course, using this block also stops me getting a bollocking for someone elses mess ups!

But if 2 people save the drawing in the same day and the first person messes up the drawing and saves then the second goes in doesn't see the mistake and saves he gets in trouble. That is the only flaw with the field block. I just implimented the same thing here at our office about 3 weeks ago but we have a nightly back up so at least we can try and chase it to the day but the problem is still the more than one person saving the file. I really want to get a key logger sometimes to see what people really do to my drawings sometimes.....
