Hi all im a young guy only been drafting for a few years atm. My boss came to me and said he wants to push into teh 3D scene soon by designing a trommel for those of you who are in the mining game you might know these it is basically a round screen that rotates. He wants to go into the fine detail of exactly how it is put together. Im looking at what programs would be good for this sort of thing. Ive played around with autocad 3D and it seem very weak and hard to modify mistakes. Just looking for some ideas on new platforms to try. Also if you would be willing to show me some examples of work you have created on teh program to.
cheers

for accurate piece part modelling i would say, either inventor or solid works are the best choice, autocad is good when you learn the finer points but lacks in modification and amendment capability,
