That .plt converter worked pretty well on my first try... the part was super huge, so i had to scale it down... but it was better then redrawing the whole thing!
THANKS Ipseifert!

Actually it's not a converter, but an interface to easily send .plt files to a printer/plotter.

True- i got to reading your post a little closer and scanned their website... found what you were talkin about.

Note that .PLT is not a file format, only a file extension.
PLT files must be generated using the driver for the plotter on which they will be plotted. No guarantees...
PDF or DWF makes for a better "plot file" transfer since these are portable across any type of plotter.

Gotta ask... and I don't mean to be rude... but doesn't a file extension pretty much signify what the file format is?
...so they should more or less go hand in hand in describing the nature of how the file acts...
whatever...

Generally speaking, yes. But .PLT is a generic extension for all plot files. You could just as easily use .PRN, .PLOT, or .CRAP for that matter.
Many plot files are HPGL/2 format, others are HPGL, still others are even different. If I make a plot file for an Oce plotter and try and send it to a Brother desktop printer, it's not going to work.
Just like you could use .WORD for a word doc. The binary contents of the file is what is important.
