Ortho button

For some reason that I cannot understand my cursor is not moving at a 90 degree angle when I have the Ortho button on. My version is AutoCAD 2005. TIA, Frank C.

Of course right after I post my message I find out the answer. Once I select Draw>Line the Ortho begins to work. Frank C.

I then type in a size then hit return/right click.
