Shop Dwgs

Hi to all, just got a new job in Mechanical eng'g firm,I was told by my supervisor that they draw their all their dwgs and print in Model space and was told that all industry right now is using their shop dwgs in Model space not in Paperspace.Is that right?They use 1 is to 1 in model space and their title block is example 1:4,1:8,or 1:10 etc. kinda wierd?

:huh: I think your supervisor is misinformed. To say that this is the industry standard is simply false. Paper space was designed specifically for printing and if they are not using it for that then they are missing out on all the benefits. Printing from Model space is how we used to do things in the old days, (before R11), when Paper space didn't exist. Maybe your supervisor just never learned how to use it?

Perhaps your supervisor should join the forum. Maybe he will learn a few things. :twisted:

yap, even their text and dimstyle,they don't have any standard text and dimstyle so i'm very frustrated working and changing all dimension and text .He told me shop dwgs only but I disagree, and asked you about it.

Your supervisor says model space is an industry standard but then goes on to say they don't have a standard text or dimstyle because they're only shop drawings? Not only is he misinformed, he's less than intelligent. Every shop or company should have a basic set of standards in place for ALL CAD operators to follow. Otherwise, all the drawings being produced will look like they're coming from different sources.
