View Full Version : Cross-section in Autocad2007

My Autocad2007 wouldn't let me create a cross-section, since the detail has to be solid. However, I can't seem to turn my polyface meshes into one, for no apparent reason (all my objects are revolved and extruded, so they should be solids (???)). I've attached the file and would be very thankful, if anyone helped me out!

 What program did you use to create this model? I got a warning when I opened the file which stated that the file was created by a program that was not developed or licensed by Autodesk. This is probably why you're not able to do what you're trying to do.

my apologies! I forgot to mention I exported the file to rhino 3.0 briefly to revolve/extrude surfaces (I'm more comfortable with this program than autocad). If I did the procedure in autocad, I would not have had any problems?

If there is a circuit through Rhino, a Save As or Export back to Autocad via the Acis (*.sat) file format will return a 3D Solid. These solids should "section" like a native Autocad Solid.

Thank you very much, it worked!

You're welcome.

I should point out, however, that the returning solids can behave poorly at times. Especially with solids that would be imossible to make in the recieving version of Autocad. For 2004, with limited freeform capabilities, importing anything non-slabsided or symetrical is asking for trouble. Autocad 2007 may be more forgiving.
