View Full Version : Xref bind insert causes blocks to scale up?

I'm using ADT 2004. Whenever I try to bind this dwg we got from our client using Xref Bind Insert, certain blocks (ie: light switches) will scale up to huge sizes(100x). But when I use Bind Bind, everything seems to be fine. Does anybody know what's wrong?

Check the system variable INSUNITS. Bind|Insert converts the xref to a block, so it may be treating it as a new insertion.

Tried it with insunits = 0, = 4, = 1, but the same problem still comes up when I Bind (insert) the dwg. Got any other idea?

Not sure about your version, but in AutoCAD 2006 blocks are defined with a Block Unit and a (scale) Factor. If you're working in feet (for instance) and the block you bind has inches for its Block Unit, it won't scale properly. You may have to redefine the block to change the Block Unit, which should probably be "unitless" for your purposes, or fix the scale factor.

are there any common block names already defined within the drawing you are XREFing too?

Thanks guys,
It was actually a very simple fix. I just have to do a purge all to the dwg and it binded okay. I guess there must be another block with the same name loaded on the drawing with different scale.
