Im an electrical designer. I do alot of as-built plans for customers who have little documentation of their electrical system. I am not a fan of recreating a floorplan. Unfortunately, often times i have to do this for a customer who claims to not be able to get a copy of the original floorplan. How often are you other designers doing this? I assume you charge an additional fee...if so, how much?
Thanks,
Nathan

For as builts and the like...55 to 65 and hr, same as CAD rates. But send the intern, you make more off them being out there. A tape and a camera, common sense and a notebook (preferably a computer) is all they need

Oh yeah, happens to all of us. i'm in the HVAC & Piping field. if you can get ahold of a copy of the floorplans via prints, TIFFs, PDFs, whatever, then you can scan/import them into CAD, rescale them, and "trace" over the floorplan with the MLINE tool to get a quick floorplan. from there, it's up to you for the MEP work. that's how we do it anyways. :)
