Off Subject - 100% Cpu usage

I only have Word running and my pc is running slow and (not responding) at times... According to my task manager it is bouncing right up to 100% usage as soon as I move my mouse... What is the cause and how do I fix?

Sounds like it's time for some general maintenance.

When was the last time you:

1. Cleaned out the History file?
2. Deleted "cookies"?
3. Deleted temporary Internet files?
4. Defragged?
5. Ran a virus scan?
6. Ran a program such as Adaware?
7. Cleaned out all the .bak files AutoCAD generates?

How big is the hard drive?
How much "free space" remains?
How much RAM is installed?

Is the computer "stand-alone" or networked?

Is there a message in the lower right corner stating "Updates waiting to be loaded" when you first boot up?

What OS are you using?

What other programs are you running at the same time in the background? Anti-virus? Other?

We could use some details. Thanks.
