View Full Version : Getting rid of ADT baggage

I just installed ACAD 2005, and I'm using it as plain AutoCAD, without Architectural Desktop, so that I can save drawings in ACAD 2000 format to exchange with consultants.
I copied a plumbing fixture or something from a drawing which was done in Architectural Desktop, and apparently it brought a lot of ADT baggage along with it. When I open the drawing now, all the AEC extensions are loaded first, and the when I saved it the file size has doubled.
I tried WBLOCKing everything into a new drawing, but all the ADT baggage came right along with it. Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of this ADT baggage, or should I just be careful in the future not to copy from anything which was done in ADT?

It's not an AEC object, is it? If it is, try exploding it before you take it over into plain AutoCAD. If not...well...maybe somebody with ADT knows. :-)

Have you tried the Export to AutoCAD option?

I have yet to load ADT2005 but should be similar. I did a test file from ADT2004 to Acad 2004 and it seemed to remove all of the ADT settings on my initial view. Good luck :)

Thanks for the help.
Kate, I did explode it, but that was after the damage was done. I'll have to try to be more careful to explode objects before copying them in the future. Live & learn.
F700es, opening the drawing in ADT then exporting to ACAD 2000 worked.
I have a related new problem - my Layer Manager seems to have become "contaminated" with ADT. If I open a drawing which was done in plain ACAD and click the Layers toolbar, all the ADT extensions start loading!
