Hi all,
I need a little help, Need to learn CAD for my new job, designing drawings for a sheet metal company, i also need to animate the drawing a give it a 2d and 3d view for customers to view in e-mails. there are loads of versions in CAD which one do i need to buy?

I also could do with the software which allow me to design bulidings not for work but for my own hobby.

I was looking at Autodesk Inventor is this siutable???
Thank you very much for your help.

Inventor is geared towards mechanical drafting not architectural. AutoCAD itself will do everything you're asking about. ADT (Architectural Desktop) which is also an Autodesk product might be a better program to look at however. It's obviously geared towards architectural and does it quite well. Like any high level, powerful piece of software though, it'll take time and work to learn it.

Inventor is perfect if you need to aminate the drawing and give it 2d and 3d views for the customer, it also has a sheet metal feature with cool tricks like FEA to assist your design. If you were to buy Inventor you will also recieve the full version of autocad 2008.

I agree. Inventor 2008 w/ AutoCAD 2008 would be best overal.
