I am at a loss for words... well almost. Is this the beginning of the end for SketchUp? What an incredible loss this will be for the SketchUp community.

I called this the day @Last announced that they were being bought out by Google. I remember all the AutoDesk haters calling it a good thing and IIRC..."atleast it's not AutoDesk". Well, I hope they are all happy now.

Well, it's too soon to organise a wake. This is only the end of thr Pro forums and not the end of the product.

There's talk of a splinter forum. Do you think I should set one up?

Of course he is superhuman - 'There are times when the Phantom leaves the jungle and walks the streets of the town as an ordinary man' - or maybe he's more of a Clark Kent...

But seriously, if I ever get out of the hooks of WoW - SketchUp is on the list of things to dive into next so I say go for it! :D

 You're probably right. It's not as if I don't have anything else to do. I do have to keep my enthusiasms in check sometimes. I tend to work on the principle that if I can, I probably should. But maybe this is one case where I should leave well alone.

Coen Naninck has already done so.

He actually set it up a couple weeks ago without any knowlege of this happening. The announcement only came 4 days before the actual move, this Monday. I can see why Google wants to fold everything into their "product" but the community forum will just get lost.

Wether or not we all settle at SketchUcation or not remains to be seen but Coen is making great efforts to keep us all in communication and community.
