Hello all ,

I am trying to import traced text from illustrator into cad or inventor

i export to DWG with illustrator but autocad/inventor dont import it right, actually they dont import anything, neither the preview and the final importing shows up anything

may be something related to file format versions? i have autodesk inventor 2007 package for windows and illustrator CS for mac os X

sorry if this question was already answered , i used the search but coudnt find anything

thanks all in advance

maybe you dont know why is not working for me when it works for you , but i would apreciate if i can send you the illustrator file so you convert to DWG for me , that will help to find out why im doing wrong ...

You have to select things in illustrator before you hit Export. It'll only export selected areas. Keep in mind that it still will be rather messed up and out of scale.

it doesnt work , im trying right now , now it does import me a very small circle , but i didnt export a circle , it was a traced text on a circle , but the circle was the path to the text it shound not even show up

and im doing selecting the text first , and then export ...makes no difference

well i managed to do it , exporting as windows metafile with illustrator, then importing with autocad , saving as DWG and then importing with Inventor

...direct illustrator DWG still doesnt work dough....

It probably has more to do with how the file was created than with your procedure. I'm glad you were able to figure out a workaround though.

Silly question but you did change the text to paths before you tried to export, right?

I just tried it and it works here.
