Hi everyone,

This isn't really an autocad question but am sure that I'll get the answer here...
I recently received some .avi video clip files of my childrens birthday party on CD and want to make them avaliable to family members around the globe. They are too big to email. I have used CADtutor, Picserver and walagata to post images and wondered if there was a "movieserver" or somewhere I can post my .avi files for free. I can then email the http address and hey presto happy viewing all round.
I look forward to your responses.

Neil

P.S. I love the forum overhaul, looks excellent!

It depends how much space you need but you can get 25MB for free at NetFirms http://www.netfirms.com/hostingbasic one banner ad per page. or 15MB for free at Portland http://www.portland.co.uk/hosting.esp with no ads.

before you start posting *.AVI files you need to compress it. here is a free and great tool to use ---->

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx

download Windows Media Encoder 9 and convert the file to a *.WMV and use 500K bitrate or higher and you're quality will look very decent at WAAAAYYYY less the filesize. www.putfile.com offers free hosting i believe.

make a new directory, something called "video" or something. (so it would show as http://www.littlestars.org.uk/video/).

now upload that file with NO SPACES to that directory (example: don't use the filename "my new video.wmv" use "my_new_video.wmv").

now just make a link to that file. (example: http://www.littlestars.org.uk/video/my_new_video.wmv)
