Is there any way to create a "virtual" type path for xref's.
For example if I am working in:
B:\acad\sytem\client\drawings <-- this is the xref path
Now I want to take the drawings folder and move it to:
F:\Client\Jobs\2007\ACAD\
How can I change that path for xrefs with out having to "repath"?
make sense? Let me know if there is a way or if ACAD has an idea for the future....

Take a look at the External Xref Manager. Go to your Windows Start menu > All Programs > Autodesk > Autocad 2006 > Reference Manager. I haven't had a reason to do this yet, but you should be able to repath your xrefs easily from there without having to actually open any drawings.

there are three xref path types available: full path, relative path and no path...if the xref drawings are in the same folder thet are being referenced from then a "no path" is suitable...if you have a similar folder structure where you may have a folder for title blocks, and xref folder etc then relative is the way to go...full path is absolute...
you change change the path type in the xref manage from absolute to no path by selecting the xref and going into the "xref found at" box...once there highlight the entire path while excluded the final file name and delete it...once that's done hit the "save path" button then ok to close the xref manager...
please note that for the above to work all the files must be in the same root folder...
to make it relative do the same as the above except leave a ".\folder path...\fielname.dwg"...the ".\" is important...
