When joining two separate lines of the same linetype, how do I maintain the linetype at the place of joining?

afaik the properties of the new line should be the same as the source object...strange that this is not happening (unless you need to regen to see the final result)...
just to clarrify, are you using the join command or are you simply drawing a connecting line between the end points of separate lines?..

Create group by GROUP command.

I am using the join command. The pattern of the linetype is not continued at the place of joining.

AutoCAD arranges the line type pattern to give a dash at the end of each line. To make the pattern continue through to the next line, the lines must be joined as a polyline. Then you have to ensure that linetype generation is on.
If you break a polyline, then the linetype generation defaults to off, and you have to re-set it.

What is the command to turn on the linetype generation?

If you are using PEDIT to join your lines, then one of the options is Ltypegen. That must be on.
Or in the Properties box, at the bottom under Misc is linetype generation, which must be enabled
