Dtext issue

I am using Autocad 2007. My dtext has all changed to the word text with a number after it..ie TEXT1, TEXT2 etc. When I double click the text I see an Edit Attribute Definition box with the TEXT (+NUMBER) in the tag box, and my original dtext in the prompt and default boxes. How do I change it so that I can see my original text.

that's not DTEXT, that's an attribute from an exploded block. You could re-block it all and then use express tools "convert attribute to text",
