heres a tip i learnt a few years back. we were editing a quite a few drawings done by co workers with no idea. in a nutshell, the drawings had no layer structure, there dimension styles were all over the place, the text format was non existant.
so to rectify this we set up a drawing we called standards. it was a drawing that had layers, text, demensions and layouts all setup. it contained no objects, just an empty drawing.
so when we came along a drawing we had issues with,we would simply insert this standards block into the drawing. This was before autocad had the design center which allows you to drag and drop these entities in. I still use this technique today as it saves time browsing using design center.
