create a circle in the layout tab. type MVIEW and select O for object, then select the circle. Done. :)

I could be wrong, but I thought that MVIEW didn't work on circles prior to 2006. So if MVIEW works on circles in 2004 go with it because it is the easiest way to do it. If it doesn't work try crating a POLYGON and when asked how many sides, through some thing in there like 100 then use the MVIEW and select the polygon as your object.

Just a side note, the polygon thing works great if you need a wipeout to be a circle.

If you can draw it, you can make it a viewport (assuming it's a closed polyline). Draw a normal circle and then click "View" ---> "Viewports" ---> "Object" and then select your circle.

Right. After you you have done your circle in the layout digit _-vports, O (object) and select it. DONE. (Work with all versions that has paperspace)

It works fine in AutoCAD 2002. That is the oldest version that I have installed.

THANKS!!!
That was way too easy. I should have caught that method in the book. But somehow I missed it.

There is a button on the Viewports toolbar "Convert object to Viewport".

If you can't do it as described above, I wouldn't have a clue.
