I have three questions,

1. How do we insert an image into a 3D Max 5 drawing.

2. After importing a 3D dwg. from autocad into 3D Max 5 it lost some of it's lines and solids!, is there a way to recover those missing elements?

3. How do we join several solids into one solid in 3D Max 5 (like we do union) ) in Autocad? is there a way to do so?

Thanks for your help

1. Depending on what you need, you may "insert" an image by displaying it as background, or create a material based on an image. You may apply this material on the objects in the scene.

2. If you used SUBTRACT and INTERFERE operations in AutoCAD, often the image in 3D Max is incomplete. You may fix this by Flipping Normals, but this requires some of practice/knowledge. As an alternative solution, when rendering choose the Force Two Sided option.

3. The union of two objects is a common thing in 3D Max modeling. Create > Compound Object > Boolean > Union.

I use 3D Max 4, not 5, but probably this is not changed!
