A contractor created some AutoCAD dwg files for me, and delivered the work to me on a CD. I don't have AutoCAD, so I downloaded "DWG Trueview" (free). I'm trying to print the drawings on my 11x17 printer using DWG Trueview. I click the "Plot" icon, and then wait for about 60 seconds while it decides that the plotter it's looking for isn't there. Apparently it's looking for the plotter that the contractor who created the drawings used. How can I change the setting so that it looks for the printer that is set up as "Default" on my computer instead?

You can't. The name of the printer/pc3 file is stored in the DWG file.
If the contractor used "eTransmit" to send the files, the PC3 file would be included - you still wouldn't be able to use it (unless you had the same drivers installed) - but there would be less of a (or no) delay when you plot.
Since you don't have AutoCAD - ask your contractor to deliver DWF files (or a single, multi-page DWF file) and you can open, markup, view, and print these without knowing or caring what plotter they use at the contractors office.
