View Full Version : 'Colored' Text appears feint when printed?

This is something that has bugged me a while. This is on AutoCAD2007.

If I change the color of some text on my drawing and plot to my company printer (which is black ink only) The text appears very feint. Is there any way I can get this text to appear 'normal' when printed, whilst still keeping the text color on my drawing.

I have tried changing my printer settings (print all text as black) but I get the same problem!

i think you would need to edit your ctb, or at least change the one you are using to print to the black & white printer. try changing the current ctb to something like monochrome, and see if that helps

It is fairly easy to change the Plot Styles - in the Plot dialogbox - clisk the Edit button under Plot Style Table (it looks like a pen that's drawing a line) and there you can change what the different colors is printed as.

At least, that's how it works with -06..

I tried that but I am having the same problem. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that the text is part of a block?

Our default .ctb file has all colours (from 0 -255) defined as black and we have no problems. All text, whether defined or as part of a block, is printed clearly.

Another problem could be that your .ctb file has dithering and a few other of those obscure settings set too low..... e.g. if we want a specific colour set to plot at, say 60% of it's full tone....then we set it that way.....I can't give you specifics on this...I'm at home....and acad is at work......

But have a look at it and see if you can figure out which one it is......:)

When I look at the plot styles in my printer setting they are .stb not .ctb

Are they the same thing?

.ctb are color dependent plot styles
.stb are named plot styles

They are not really the same thing and a drawing can be created and plotted using one of those styles.
In a single drawing you can assign a single type of plot styles (ctb OR stb).
Is a matter of preferences wich one you use. I prefer ctb.
To convert a stb drawing into a ctb drawing the command is _CONVERTPSTYLES
The help online will provide more informations about the diferences between stb and ctb
