My laptop died in an accident yesterday.

I have accident insurance on the beast and so they are coming out to fix it on Friday. The plan is to change out the HDD and the motherboard but I suspect the DVD may need to go and the wired network isn't working.

It's limped along enough this afternoon for me to get data off and I am wondering what to do about my install of AutoCAD.

I've AutoDesk Inventor Professional 11 and I'm in the UK. I have the disk plus my authorization code. What's the situation? Can I simply re-install onto the new HDD? Or do I have to try and uninstall from a dodgy hard drive with what looks like no network working on it at all? No wireless and no wired either.

Regards

Lesley

What you do is.......go back to your acad dealer....and explain it to him what happened......he will sort it out......no problem......

This is a common occurence...Autodesk understands this......no big issue.....

Even if you don't have an acad dealer......just reinstall it and re-apply for the whatevers that AutoDesk require.....no problems.....:)

Do a straightforward reinstall onto the new laptop. There shouldn't be any issues.

Hiya Strix

Laptop is fine - everything re-installed okay thank goodness. Just got some dead pixels on the screen and trying to decide if that red is too high but otherwise it seems to work. Am being *much* more careful now.

Re the floods:
Have had to sweep the garage out twice - once for each flood - and
lost money due to canceled work - the joys of self employment.
But nothing as bad as for the folks in places like Catcliffe and Toll Bar thankfully.

Hope you are surviving okay and thank you for asking

Regards
