View Full Version : shifting axes

I am working on drawings received from another firm. I am placing the same blocks in all the drawings, which are orthogonal for the most part. There are some drawings that have funny angles (and are drawn askew from the x/y axis) and it seems inefficient to rotate the blocks and rotate my guiding lines, etc.

I guess my question is... is there a way to easily and temporarily move a skewed drawing to the default x/y axis for ease of manipulating, and then of course moving it back once I am done.

:) I'll elaborate if this isn't clear. Thanks!

Use could use the align command. Pick 3 points on your skewed blocks that you would like aligned with x,y.

Try this...
UCS > O [for object] > Pick a line you want the block aligned with > insert block
when done inserting... UCS > P [for previous]

I don't understand... I typed in ucs and "object" was not an option...

My error... UCS > OB
or UCS > E
or UCS > New > OB
or UCS > New > E
there's more than one way to skin a cat.
