3D Shading

For some reason all of the sudden when i go to shade my 3D structure it disappears, when i am in model space. When i drag my cursor over the object it appears. Is there something i need to do in regards to shademode. I am using AutoCAD 2006.....????

The only time Ive ever seen objects dissapear in simple shade is when you are using 3D orbit and have an object selected.

With objects selected, those objects are shaded and all other objects are hidden until you leave 3D orbit
