have you got the software downloaded already?

I was under the impression the online tutorials and the software were well written enough for you not to need additional material

i have the program downloaded and done a couple of tutorials within the program.

but i seem to learn better if i read a book and work on the program at the same time. find it harder to absorb info while its on a screen :D

how about printing it off then? or running two computers so you can refer to tutorials easily whilst working on your drawings?

Another good one is the 3D Construction Modeling.

Not see the that book but have looked at other dummy books and I think they are very good, very basic but thats what you need to get going.:)

the tutorials you can download are excellent. i found them easy to follow.

this was a while ago when sketchup wasnt google.

do a google search on "Sketchup Tutorials" as i am sure there is an abundance of resources out there now.

Buy the book if thats your thing, you can always read it at night when your in bed

not to pee into the wind, but i found just messing around with the program and trail and error lead me to discover new things.... altho, to each their own.

This page has links to the tutorials:
http://sketchup.google.com/vtutorials.html
1 & 3 are the most informative. Start with 3 (SketchUp 5 tut's).

Here is a link to some books that will help quite a bit:
I bought the SketchUp Book (V4) way back when. It was a tremendous help.
I am sure the others are just as helpful if not more.

FYI, the google SketchUp forum is shutting down and moving to Google Groups. Many people on the said forum have migrated to the SketchUcation forums here:

Hope this helps and hope to see some of you at SketchUcation as well.
